Jazz Pharmaceuticals acquired Actio Biosciences for $820 million upfront plus up to $500 million in milestone payments to gain control of ABS-1230, a potential first-in-class treatment for KCNT1-related epilepsy. The acquisition strengthens Jazz's existing epilepsy franchise, which includes the successful Epidiolex drug generating $292 million in Q2 sales. While clinical trial risks exist, Jazz's strong revenue growth (16% YoY to $1.2 billion in Q2) and solid cash generation support the investment. At 9.5x forward earnings, the stock appears reasonably valued for a profitable biotech with double-digit growth.
